This research focus on alignment of Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) nanofibers with concentration of 15%wt to align the liquid crystal molecules using two collector gap method in electrospinning. It aims to determine the ideal distance that could be used to produce the ideal fiber diameter and slope parameter for each variaton of distance using copper collectors and find its potential to align the liquid crystal molecules. The distance between two collectors were varied from 5 mm, 10 mm, 15 mm and 20 mm. The voltage was fixed at 15kV, the distance between collector to syringe is 9 cm and the syringe diameter is 0.5 mm. This research is conducted on two stages nanofibers making and liquid crystal dropping. The results indicate that the ideal distance between two collectors in this research is 15 mm with average diameter 355 ± 7 nm and slope parameter (S) 0.98 ± 0.02. After dropped by liquid crystals, the sample shows dark and bright pattern at certain angle which indicates that the liquid crystal molecules are aligned by nanofibers.
