2015 | Skripsi | FMIPASynthesis and characterization of MCM-41 based on lapindo mud silica using hydrothermal and non-hydrothermal method had been caried out. The silica separation from Lapindo mud was done by reflux method. The hydrothermal synthesis was conducted in a stainless steel autoclave covered by teflon at 100°C for 24 h. The non-hydrothermal synthesis was done by adding HCl until the pH was 8 at 27°C. The hydrothermal synthesis was done in mol ratio of CTAB/Si of 0,1. In non-hydrothermal synthesis the effect of CTAB/Si mol ratio (0,1; 0,2; 0,3 and 0,4) to the ordered mesostructure of MCM-41 was studied. The mineral contained on Lapindo mud and the mesostructure was characterized using X-ray difraction method (XRD). The functional group obervation was done by infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The pore character and cross section image was viewed by nitrogen adsorption-desorption and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) methods. The result showed that the optimum reflux time was 16 h. The hydrothermal method produced MCM-41 with the honeycomb mesostructure. The hydrothermally synthesized MCM-41 has the spesific surface area of 424,58 m2/g and the pore diameter average was 3,20 nm. The non-hydrothermal method produced MCM-41-like material with low ordered mesostructure. The MCM-41-like material has the spesific surface area of 533,19 m2/g and the pore diameter average was 3,19 nm. The most ordered mesostructure of MCM-41 like material was obtained by the CTAB/Si ratio of 0,1.
