Magnetic nanoparticles of magnesium ferrite (MgFe2O4) with various particle size have been successfully synthesized by co-presipitation method. MgFe2O4 nanoparticles were synthesized from MgCl2.6H2O and FeCl3.6H2O with different synthesis temperature and concentration of co-presipitant (NaOH). The particle size from the result of X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) analysis is about 3-11 nm. The susceptibility measurements of magnesium ferrite (MgFe2O4) nanoparticles with various particle size of (10,90 ± 0,03) nm, (5,44 ± 0,01) nm, (6,46 ± 0,02) nm, (3,53 ± 0,01) nm, and (6,78 ± 0,02) nm have been performed using Gouy method. The susceptibility values according to particle size are (0,9 ± 0,4) 10-6 m3/kg , (3,3 ± 0,2) 10-6 m3/kg, (2,06 ± 0,03) 10-6 m3/kg, (5,09 ± 0,04) 10-6 m3/kg, and (2,78 ± 0,16) 10-6 m3/kg. The susceptibility values from measurement of MgFe2O4 depend on particle size, crystal structure, crystal defects, and existence of ?-Fe2O3 phase. Magnetic susceptibility increase with decreasing of particle size and ratio of impurities. The largest magnetic susceptibility was found in the sample with particle size (3,53 ± 0,01) nm which has ratio of ferrite 90,2% and ratio of impurities 9,8%.
