Natural zeolite was modified with 3-aminopropyl trimethoxysilane compounds through the process of grafting and its application to adsorb Cu(II) was studied. Natural zeolite was modified by adding aminopropyl trimethoxysilane (APTMS) by grafting method using ethanol and the reflux system. zeolite APTMS imprinted Cu was characterized using infrared spektofotometer to identify functional groups and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Adsorption studies was performed using a batch system with variations of pH and ion concentration of Cu(II). Langmuir isotherm and Freundlich models was used to determine the adsorption capacity and energy. The results showed that the optimum conditon of Cu(II) adsorption on natural zeolites and zeolite-APTMS imprinted Cu optimum at pH 4, followed Langmuir isotherm model with a maximum adsorption capacity of natural zeolite was 16.80 mg g-1 and zeolite-APTMS imprinted Cu of 34.22 mg g-1. The energy of 24.86 kJ mol-1 for natural zeolite and 30.47 kJ mol-1 for zeolite APTMS imprinted Cu were reported.
