Silica coated magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles have been successfully synthesized coated silica with variation consentration silica 5%, 10%, 20%, 30%, and 50%. Fe3O4 nanoparticles in powder form, and synthesized using co-presipitation method. Crystal structure, magnetic properties and functional groups respectively were characterized by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM) and Fourier Transform Infra Red (FTIR). The results of XRD analysis showed that changes in the crystanility effect on the particle size after being coated with silica which serves as a template because it did not reveal any new phase. Fe3O4 particle size before coated silica 11.06 0.04 nm. After coated silica with a concentration of 5 % and 20 % , particle size increased to 13.68 0.03 and 14.10 0.03 nm. VSM analysis results show the value of saturation magnetization (Ms) and remanent magnetization (Mr) decreases with the greater concentration of impurity phase silica and ?-Fe2O3. Susceptibility ( ) values also decreased due to linear with Ms value, otherwise the value coersivity (Hc) increased. In addition, the results of FTIR analysis showed absorption peaks of Fe - O on Fe3O4 nanopaticles coated with silica shifted wave numbers because of changes in the vibrational energy of Fe and O groups and the influence of silica adsorption.
