PEMANFAATAN GPS UNTUK MENGHITUNG PERKIRAAN WAKTU KEDATANGAN BUS KOTA GPS UTILIZATION FOR ARRIVAL TIME ESTIMATION OF CITY BUSSES

But sometimes faced by people with Transjogja bus is just too long to wait without any certainty when the bus will arrive at the bus stop where a passengers are waiting, and the Passengers do not know the position of the bus that is heading to the bus stop where they wait, so sometimes they tend to choose other transportation. As the development of smartphone technology which has been integrated with location based services technology, the barriers can be reduced by an estimated time of arrival of the Transjogja bus system by utilizing websites today which is easily accessible by the people of Indonesia. In this study, it is constructed a system to calculate the estimated time of arrival of the bus at the next stop by utilizing location basd service on smartphones based on Android operating system. This technology is used to determine the position of the bus, at where bus stop and how the estimated time of arrival of the bus at the next stop via the website. Every bus passes a particular bus stop on track, the system will transmit data containing the position coordinates. The data is used to determine where bus stop the bus is located at, and the estimated time of arrival at the next three bus stop. The test result of the research shows that the system is able to send the bus position data when it runs well. In fact the system accuracy of computing bus arrival time with the time difference of arrival reaches 100% if the waiting toleration time of passenger given is 10 minutes.
