2015 | Skripsi | FMIPA UGMSynthesis and caracterization of Co/MCM-41 catalyst based on silica from Sidoarjo mud for hydrocracking of palm oil has been carried out. The MCM-41 was used as a support material of cobalt metal to produce Co/MCM-41 catalyst. The MCM-41 was synthesized using silica from Sidoarjo mud and CTAB as a template, by hydrothermal method at a temperature of 100 °C for 24 h. The MCM-41 was then calcined at 540 °C for 5 h to remove the template. The Co metal of 0.5 and 1 wt.% was loaded to the MCM-41 by wet impregnation method using salt precursors of Co(NO3)2.6H2O. The MCM-41, Co(0.5%)/MCM-41 and Co(1%)/MCM-41 samples were analyzed by XRD, FT-IR, TEM and GSA. The hydrocracking of palm oil was carried out using the Co(0.5%)/MCM-41 catalyst. Ratio of catalyst/palm oil feed = 1:100 (w/v) at hydrocracking temperature of 400 °C using H2 gas with flow rate 20 cc/min. The product of hydrocracking was analyzed using GC-MS. The result showed that the MCM-41 material was well-organized and has average pore radius of 3.53 nm and surface area of 226.075 m2/g. Loading of 0.5 wt.% of Co metal onto the MCM-41 didn?t defect the MCM-41 structure, however that the loading of 1 wt.% affected the structure of MCM-41. The Co(0.5%)/MCM-41 catalyst produce the conversion of the hydrocracking product of 52.16% (wt.%) with selectivity toward gasoline and diesel fraction 7.4% and 16.5% respectifully.
