2014 | Disertasi | PROGAM STUDI S2 ILMU KIMIACurcumin release from chitosan-pectin film using trioctyl methyl ammonium chloride (TOMA Cl) as emulsifier had been studied. The aim of this study was to determine the optimum condition of curcumin release using some variations, such as curcumin concentrations, trioctyl methyl ammonium chloride concentrations, phosphate buffer : ethanol concentrations and pH of solvent. The film was prepared by mixing pectin in aquades, then adding chitosan and acetic acid 0.4 M, and then adding trioctyl methyl ammonium chloride and curcumin until it was mixed completely. The products were characterized by spectrofotometer infrared. Curcumin release had been done by immersing film in a phosphate buffer : ethanol solution for 6 hours. The concentration of curcumin released was measured by spectrophotometer UV-Vis. Curcumin release kinetics were analyzed by zero order model, first order model, Higuchi model and Korsmeyer-Peppas model. The results showed that the most suitable kinetics model of this experiment was Korsmeyer-Peppas. The optimum condition of curcumin released which had 4 mg curcumin and 20 mg trioctyl methyl ammonium chloride. The optimum solvent was phosphate buffer : ethanol 80:20 and pH 4.
