FABRIKASI NANOFIBER KOMPOSIT DARI NANOSELULOSA SISAL DENGAN POLYVINYL ALCOHOL MENGGUNAKAN METODE ELECTROSPINNING; FABRICATION OF COMPOSITE NANOFIBER FROM SISAL NANOCELLULOSE WITH POLYVINYL ALCOHOL BY USING ELECTROSPINNING METHOD

A composite nanofiber of nanocellulose / polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) has been fabricated by electrospinning method. Nanocellulose can be used as fillers at PVA as matriks followed to be a composite nanofiber. In this case, nanocellulose was extracted from sisal fiber by a route chemical process; i.e. scouring, bleaching, and acid hydrolysis, followed by centrifuge and ultrasonic treatment. Centrifuge was treatment to separate nanocellulose from residual of solution, whereas ultrasonic treatment was subsequently to disperse the separated nanocellulose. SEM micrographs of the chemical treated fibers revealed the reducing fiber diameter to be < 50 nm (hydrolyzed fibers) and the absence of the non-cellulosic components. Meanwhile, the effect of concentration on the nanofiber composite nanoselulosa nanoselulosa / PVA electrospinning results can not be clearly identified from the SEM micrographs. However, TEM micrographs of nanofiber composite nanoselulosa / PVA showed distribution of nanoselulosa in nanofiber uneven and tends to occur agglomeration. On the other hand, the FTIR results on fibers after bleaching and hydrolysis eliminated C=O bond (non-cellulose). Can also be concluded that the chemical treatment does not damage the cellulose crystallinity was evidenced by the appearance diffraction peaks of cellulose remains at 16.2 º, 22.5 º, and 34.2 º from XRD test. The composite nanofibers resulted from this research will be useful various applications such as flexible and transparent substrates
