This thesis develop online academic information system (AIS) that implements asynchronous data replication in the database design. This thesis aims to obtain design and implementation of online AIS that implement asynchronous data replication for AIS data security without compromising the performance of that AIS. AIS Application consists of intranet AIS application that is used by academic and departments administration, and online AIS application that is used by lecturers and students. Each AIS application has a database that is in a computer server with the AIS application. Intranet AIS is in a intranet server and only can be accessed by the academic and departments administration. Intranet server is not connected to the internet. AIS online is in a online server and can be accessed from the Internet by using domain name. Both AIS applications are not communicate. Communication is in the database using asynchronous data replication. Asynchronous data replication consists of two-way replication between intranet AIS database and online AIS database, and one-way replication from intranet AIS database to online AIS database adjusted with the needs for increasing the data security accordance with the objectives of this thesis. AIS security testing is performed data changes with reverse shell trojan and system take down with DoS (Denial of Service). The results show that the implementation of asynchronous data replication can be used for data security of information system from data changes attack and system take down from the internet. Implementation of asynchronous data replication does not reduce the AIS performance
