ADSORPSI DESORPSI METILEN BIRU PADA MEMBRAN KOMPLEKS POLIELEKTROLIT (PEC) KITOSAN-PEKTIN; ADSORPTION DESORPTION METHYLENE BLUE USING CHITOSANPECTIN POLYELECTROLYTE COMPLEX (PEC) MEMBRANE

A research about adsorption and desorption of methylene blue using chitosan-pectin polyelectrolyte complex (PEC) membrane. The PEC membrane has been obtained by the dissolving pectin in water and chitosan in acetic acid and the evaporated at temperature of 70 ºC. The membrane were characterized by FTIR, water absorption, medium acidity and SEM. it has been studied also the effect of adsorption parameters pH, time, and concentration of methylene blue, studied kinetics of adsorption desorption, adsorption isotherms, adsorption capacity and adsorption energy. The results of FTIR showed that PEC membrane has peak spectra at 1604,77 cm-1 and water uptake maximum on the composition of pectin chitosan 70:30. Optimal adsorption condition were achieved in pH 6 methylene blue concentration of 100 mgL-1 and the ratio of chitosan pectin 70:30; 80:20 for 30 minutes and 90:10 for 15 minutes. This research showed that adsorption of methylene blue by PEC membrane has pseudo second order and form isotherm Langmuir with adsorption capacity of 112,0 mg g-1 to PEC 70:30, energy adsorption of 42,6 kJ mol-1, and Costant (K) 2,58×107 L mol-1 . maximum desorption reached 99% by using 1 M NaCl at 120 minutes (90:10), desorption kinetics followed pseudo second order with rate constant of 1,82x10-3 mg g- 1menit-1.
