PEMANFAATAN TEKNIK SINKRONISASI DALAM APLIKASI MOBILE LEARNING; THE USE OF SYNCHRONIZATION TECHNIQUE IN MOBILE LEARNING APPLICATION

The mobile devices are now used for replacing the use of computer especially when the user away from the room. The characteristics like portability and support of applications that similar to desktop application enable users to access information wherever they are. Even with all the good characteristics, mobile device also has the drawbacks. It really depends on the battery power and also the use of internet connection will reduce the battery power faster. The drawbacks of mobile device can be solved by the used of local database. It is used to store data from the server database. The data will be downloaded by doing synchronization process with database server. This research implements the SyncML synchronization technique with the case study in mobile learning application. The use of synchronization technique and local database enable the application to be accessed whether online or offline without connection to the internet. The result of application testing in several mobile devices gives the conclusion that the use of synchronization technique in such application will make the access time faster. In addition, it shows that there is no significant difference in synchronizing data whether being accessed by one mobile devices or by some devices concurrently.
