SINTESIS TURUNAN KALKON DARI MIRISTISIN MINYAK PALA DAN UJI POTENSI SEBAGAI PENGHAMBAT UV-A; SYNTHESIS OF CHALCONE DERIVATIVES FROM MYRISTICIN OF NUTMEG ESSENTIAL OIL AND UV-A INHIBITION POTENTIAL TEST

2014 | Disertasi | PROGRAM STUDI S2 ILMU KIMIAThe synthesis of 4,5-methylenedioxy-3-methoxy chalcone from nutmeg oil had been carried out. The elucidations of the products were performed by using GC, TLC scanner, FT-IR, and 1H NMR spectrometer. The UV-A inhibition in-vitro test of product was determined using UV-Vis spectrophotometer. Isolation of the essential oil from nutmeg pulp, mace and nutmeg produced 0.75%, 4.77% and 6.62% contained 10.54%, 38.45% and 9.24% of myristicin, respectively. Isolation of myristicin from nutmeg essential oil was done by fractional distillation yielded 7.45% of myristicin. Isomerization of myristicin using KOHethanol at 84 ?C for eight hours produces isomiristisin 95.01% in yield. Oxidation of isomiristisin with KMnO4 in acidic conditions using tween 80 as micellar catalyst at < 40?C produced 4,5-methylenedioxy-3-methoxy benzaldehyde (49.53%). The condensation between 4,5-methylenedioxy-3-methoxy benzaldehyde with acetophenone in alkali conditions yielded 55.31% of 4,5-methylenedioxy-3-methoxy chalcone. The UV-A inhibition in-vitro test of 4,5-methylenedioxy-3-methoxy chalcone using UV-Vis spectrophotometer showed that it has “ultra” protection
