SINTESIS MATERIAL MESOPORI Ti-MCM-41 SERTA PENGUJIAN AKTIVITASNYA PADA FOTODEGRADASI METILEN BIRU; SYNTHESIS OF MESOPOROUS MATERIALS TI-MCM-41 AND ITS ACTIVITY TEST ON THE PHOTODEGRADATION OF METHYLENE BLUE

Materials Ti-MCM-41 has been synthesized and tested its activity on the photodegradation of methylene blue. Synthesis was carried out by hydrothermal method using tetraethyl ortosilicate (TEOS), titanium isopropoxide (TTIP) as precursors and cetiltrimetilammonium bromide (CTAB) as a template. Characterization was conducted by using X-ray diffraction, infrared spectrophotometry, spectrophotometry diffusion reflectance ultraviolet-visible and transmission electron microscopy. The activity test of Ti-MCM-41 was performed in a batch system in a closed reactor equipped with a UV light. Results showed that the material Ti-MCM-41 successfully formed as shown from X-ray diffraction pattern with a peak at 2? : 2.233 (d =39.53223 Å) ; 3.9813 (d = 22.17558 Å) ; 4.5200 (d=19.53380 Å), infrared absorption bands at wave numbers 416.62 ; 570.93 ; 802.39 ; 964.41 ; 1080.14 ; 1635.64 and 3425.58 cm-1 and transmission electron microscopy images showing the hexagonal pore structure. The activity test results showed that Ti-MCM-41 has a higher photocatalytic activity (88.29%) compared to the activity of free TiO2 (38%) at pH 10, for 10 mg of catalyst weigth and 25 mL of methylene blue solution of 50 ppm.
