KAJIAN FOTOREDUKSI IONCr(VI) DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN FOTOKATALIS TiO2-RESIN; STUDY ONPHOTOREDUCTION OF Cr(VI) USING TiO2-RESIN PHOTOCATALYST

2014 | Disertasi | PROGRAM STUDI S2 ILMU KIMIAIn this research preparation of TiO2 on cation exchange resin followed by characterization and performance tests TiO2-resin photocatalyst for the photoreduction of Cr(VI) ion. The preparation has been carried out by exchanging of Ti(IV) ion from Titanium isopropoksida Ethanol-water solution plus 1 gram cation exchange resin, followed by calcination at 200oC. Characterization was conducted using X-ray diffraction (XRD) method. The photoreduction was proceeded with batch system, and the influence of radiation time, photocatalyst mass and Cr(VI) ion concentration were studied. The research results show that preparation of TiO2-resin increase the activity of photocatalyst in the reduction reaction of Cr(VI) ion. Radiation time affect significantly the product of photoreduction of Cr(VI) ion catalyzed by TiO2-resin. Increasing of exposure time up to 24 hours can increase the effectiveness of Cr(VI) ion photoreduction, however for longer exposure time than 24 hours, the effectiveness of Cr(VI) photoreduction tend to decrease. Increasing TiO2- resin mass to 50 mg, improve Cr(VI) ion photoreduction, while the addition of photocatalyst mass greater than 50 mg has no significant effect on Cr(VI) photoreduction. At low concentration of Cr(VI), photoreduction can proceed completely but increasing concentration of Cr(VI) give rise to a lower photoreduction result.
