The aim of this research was to separate of Ca2+ and Fe3+ from the solution using cation exchange extraction method. Some factors that effected extraction were; pH metals solution, extraction time, metal ions concentration, the volume ratio between ligand and metals and ligand concentration. Extraction was done by shaking in glass bottle continuously. The result analyzed by atomic adsorption spectroscopy (AAS). The result showed that 5×10-3M POA ligand in chloroform can extract 400 ppm Ca2+ with percentage 25.97% at pH=4 for 72 hours and the volume ratio between ligand and metal were 2:1. An investigation of Ca2+ and Fe3+ extraction competition showed that Fe3+ was more effectively extracted than Ca2+. While the result of investigation for application of Ca2+ and Fe3+ separation in some samples of natural water showed that POA reduced the metals through a simple extraction process.
