KEPEKAAN BAKTERI Salmonella sp. YANG DIISOLASI DARI KASUS STOMATITIS PADA ULAR SANCA BATIK (Broghammerus reticulatus) TERHADAP BEBERAPA ANTIBIOTIK

Stomatitis atau radang pada rongga mulut banyak ditemukan pada reptil, terutama pada ular dan kadal. Stomatitis ini disebabkan oleh banyak faktor, namun faktor yang paling sering menjadi penyebab stomatitis adalah infeksi bakteria, satu diantaranya adalah Salmonella sp. yang telah berhasil diisolasi dari ular sanca batik. Penanganan kasus stomatitis akibat infeksi bakteria, sangat mengandalkan antibiotik sebagai pilihan obat. Sampai saat ini beberapa antibiotik mampu menangani kasus stomatitis pada ular secara umum, namun penggunaan antibiotik yang spesifik mampu melawan infeksi bakteri Salmonella sp. belum banyak dilaporkan. Penelitian dilakukan dengan reidentifikasi isolat bakteri Salmonella sp. dari ular sanca batik yang telah diisolasi sebelumnya melalui replating isolat pada media MCA dan EMB serta uji biokimiawi, yang dilanjutkan dengan uji sensitifitas antibiotik (amikasin, gentamisin, eritromisin, streptomisin, tetrasiklin dan oksitetrasiklin) pada media MHA. Hasil penelitian menggambarkan bahwa Salmonella sp. penyebab stomatitis pada ular sanca batik menunjukkan sensitivitas terhadap antibiotik amikasin, gentamisin, dan tetrasiklin, hasil intermediet terhadap streptomisin, dan resisten terhadap eritromisin, sedangkan hasil untuk oksitetrasiklin diasumsikan sensitif.

Stomatitis or oral cavity inflammation has been found regularly in reptiles, mostly in snakes and lizards. Stomatitis can be caused by many factors; the most frequent ones are due to bacterial infection, among which Salmonella sp. has been successfully isolated from reticulated pythons. Method of treatment for stomatitis that is caused by bacterial infection mostly rely on antibiotics as drugs of choice. There are several antibiotics reported affective for treatment of stomatitis in snakes in general. However antibiotics that are especially effective against Salmonella sp. have not been much reported especially. The research which started with reidentification of Salmonella sp. isolate that has been previously isolated before from reticulated pythons by replating the isolate on MCA and EMB plates followed with serial test to identify its biochemical characteristics. The next step was performing antibiotics sensitivity test on MHA medium. The antibiotics tested were amikacin, gentamicin, erythromycin, streptomycin, tetracycline, and oxytetracycline. The result showed that Salmonella sp. causing stomatitis in reticulated pythons showed sensitivity against amikacin, gentamicin, tetracycline, resistancy against erythromycin, and being intermediate against streptomycin. We assumed that are result against oxytetracycline was sensitive.
