Analisis sikap dan niat calon mahasiswa dalam memilih Fakultas Ekonomi UGM

Due to its goals to be a research university and its changing into BHMN, Gadjah Mada University (GMU) increases the students tuition and enlarges the entering system. Therefore Economics Faculty of GMU needs to study how the attitude and intentions of the students toward the faculty, as well as other factors affecting the students attitudes and intention.
This research aims at identifying the influences of beliefs about trying and success and evaluation of the success consequence toward attitude towards trying and success; beliefs about trying and fail and evaluation of the the fail consequence toward attitude towards failure of trying; beliefs about trying with some consequences and evaluation of the concequences of trying toward attitude towards process of trying; attitude and expectation of success, the attitude and expectation of failure, and attitude towards process toward attitude towards trying; normative belief and motivation to comply toward the subjective nonn; the attitude towards trying and subjective norm toward the students' intention to choose the departemens of Economics Faculty.
In addition, this study is conducted in order to know whether there are or not the differences of attitude and intention to choose the departements of Economics Faculty between the students who have social science background and those who have natural science background at high school.
Multistage sampling method is used in this study. There are 180 students from SMU Muhammadiyah 1 and SMU 9 Yogyakarta chosen as respondents. They consist of 90 students from social science background and 90 students from natural science background. Before collecting data, trial examination for 60 subjects is done for measuring validity and reliability of the quistionare
