Analizing The Impact of IFRS Conversion to The Financial Performance of Bank BPD DIY

Due to the fact that many companies follow the globalization, accounting need to follow this process and present financial situations using a unique accounting procedures, which can be understood by the entire business community. There is a need for harmonization for accounting standards in order to help the foreign investor to understand the financial statements of the company. That is why there is International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS), a single set of high quality global accounting standard.
In Indonesia, as a result of foreign reporting requirements, have performed a high-level analysis of the impacts of adopting IFRS, there are PSAK 50 (Revised 2006) about Presentation and Disclosure of Financial Instruments (PSAK 50R) and PSAK 55 (Revised 2006) about Recognition and Measurement of Financial Instruments (PSAK 55R) that based on IAS 32 and IAS 39 will be effective on beginning or after January 1, 2010for all financial statements, particularly in banking industry. PSAK 50R and PSAK 55R governing financial instruments, of course, have a significant impact on the banks financial statements.
As the issue of IFRS conversion in Banking and Capital Market industry has arises, this research will focus on the impact of IFRS conversion specifically in the provincial state owned enterprise. Bank BPD DIY is the biggest financial institution owned by Yogyakartas local government. As a provincial state owned enterprise, the profit that goes in is used to develop the local area and should be able to sustain them self in the industry as the shifting of time in the banking industry is growing and more competitors are emerging.
