The objectives of this research are (i) to analyze factors that influence currency demand in Indonesia (ii) to know elasticity number of currency demand according to interest rate and income and (iii) making stability test of currency demand in Indonesia.
The data used are quarterly data from 1990: 1 - 2001:4. Variable of the data are riil national income, interest rate, inflation, riil exchange rate and one of dummy variable that representing the year where there are sound change in exchange rate policy. A method of analysis used is multiple regression that estimated with Error Correction Model (ECM).
Result of the research indicate that all variables significantly influence into currency demand in Indonesia, except dummy variable. Dummy variables which is not significant indicate there is no change in demand pattern during research period. The elasticity of currency demand according to interest rate and income are inelastic. Chow test indicate there is no structural changes during research period.
