Reaksi pasar terhadap pengumuman perubahan tarif pajak penjualan atas barang mewah (PPnBM)

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah pengumuman perubahan tarif Pajak Penjualan atas Barang Mewah (PPnBM) mengandung informasi, atau apakah pasar modal bereaksi terhadap pengumuman perubahan tarif PPnBM. Pengumuman perubahan tarif PPnBM ditentukan berdasarkan keluarnya 4 Keputusan Menteri Keuangan (KMK) tentang perubahan tarif PPnBM atas barang-barang selain kendaraan bermotor dari tahun 2001 sampai dengan tahun 2005. Reaksi pasar modal yang diamati meliputi reaksi harga (return abnormal) dan aktivitas volume perdagangan atas saham biasa perusahaan-perusahaan yang terkena dampak perubahan tarif PPnBM.
Sampel penelitian ini meliputi 28 perusahaan dari 9 sub industri di Bursa Efek Jakarta selama periode 2001 sampai dengan 2005 yang terkena dampak penurunan tarif PPnBM. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pengumuman penurunan tarif PPnBM tidak mengandung informasi, sehingga pasar modal tidak bereaksi.
The Objective of this research is to examine the information content of the announcement of sales tax of luxury good rate changes, or to know do market will react cause the announcement of sales tax of luxury good rate changes. The announcement of sales tax of luxury good rate changes based on four Minister of Finance Decree about the changes (decline) of sales tax of luxury good for goods except automotive product, between 2001 until 2005. Abnormal return and trading volume activity are the proxy of market reaction.
The sample of this research is 28 firms, taken from 9 subindusties who listed in Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI) during the period of 2001 until 2005.The result of this research show that the announcement of sales tax of luxury good rate change have not information content, so market does not reaction.
