PENGARUH DUKUNGAN MANAJEMEN PUNCAK DAN KOMUNIKASI PEMAKAI PENGEMBANG TERHADAP HUBUNGAN PARTISIPASI DAN KEPUASAN PEMAKAI DALAM PENGEMBANGAN SISTEM INFORMASI

Pentingnya partisipasi untuk meningkatkan kepuasan pemakai
dalam proses pengembangan sistem secara luas telah diakui dalam literatur. Namun, perspektif ini lemah karena tidak didukung oleh hasil penelitian yang jelas dan tidak ada penjelasan teoritis untuk hubungan tersebut. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk meneliti pengaruh
interaksi dari faktor kontijensi - dukungan manajemen puncak dan komunikasi pemakai-pengembang terhadap hubungan antara partisipasi dan kepuasaan pemakai. Seperti yang disarankan dalam literatur, penelitian ini akan menguji hipotesa yang menganggap bahwa faktorfaktor
kontijensi tertentu dapat mengindetifikasi pada situasi mana hubungan antara partisipasi dan kepuasan pemakai kuat.
Penelitian ini didasarkan atas respon dari 94 manajer tingkat menengah dari berbagai organisasi yang berbeda. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa partisipasi pemakai berhubungan secara langsung dengan kepuasan pemakai. Sebagai tambahan, faktor-faktor kontijensi
juga berperan dalam hubungan tersebut. Dukungan manajemen puncak terbukti sebagai quasi moderator. Pada proyek pengembangan sistem dimana dukungan manajemen puncak tinggi, maka hubungan partisipasi dan kepuasan pemakai secara signifikan kuat dibandingkan dengan proyek yang dukungan manajemen puncaknya rendah. Komunikasi pemakai - pengembang menunjukkan sebagai prediktor independen terhadap kepuasan pemakai. Komunikasi pemakai - pengembang berhubungan positif dengan kepuasan pemakai tanpa memperhatikan pengaruh interaksi partisipasi dari pemakai. Hasil penelitian ini memiliki implikasi bagi pengembang sistem dan akademisi untuk menjelaskan bagaimana, kapan, mengapa dan dimana partisipasi pemakai diperlukan. Hasil ini juga menjelaskan hubungan antara partisipasi dan kepuasan pemakai dengan mengemukakan sifat hubungan dipengaruhi oleh kondisi-kondisi yang berbeda.
The importance of user participation to improve user satisfaction in the systems development process has been widely recognized in the literature. However, the perspective has suffered from equivocal results of
empirical test and the absence of a theoritical explanation for the relationship. The purpose of this study is to investigate the interaction effect of contingency factor - top management support and user-developer communication - on relationship between user participation and user satisfaction. As suggested in the literature, this study test hypotheses that
these specific contingency factors should aid in indentifying situations where user participation would have a strong relationship with satisfaction.
This study based on the resposes of 94 midle manager from different organizations. The result of the analysis indicated that user participation has a direct relationship with user satisfaction. In addition, the
contingency factors were found to play key roles on this relationship. Top management support proved to be quasi moderator. In project where there was a high level of top management support, the relationship between user
participation dan user satisfaction was significantly stronger than in project where top management support was low. User-developer communication were shown to be independent predictor of user satisfaction. Userdeveloper
communication was positively related to user satisfaction
regardless of the level of participation. The results have implications to systems developers and to
academicians seeking to explain how, when why and where user participation is needed. It was also explained the relationship between user participation and user satisfaction by suggesting the nature of relationship under different sets of conditions.
