Pemahaman Mahasiswa Akuntansi Terhadap Makna Income (Studi Empiris Pada PTN dan PTS di Yogyakarta)

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat pemahaman para mahasiswa PTN dan PTS terhadap istilah akuntansi yaitu income, dan mengetahui perbedaan masing-masing kelompok mahasiswa tersebut. Sehingga lembaga pendidikan akuntansi dapat mengevaluasi apakah istilah income perlu dijelaskan pada awal kuliah atau tidak. Sehingga akan tercipta pemahaman yang selaras.
Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksploratoris. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan dua metode yaitu purposive sample dan snowball. Analisis dari penelitian yang dilakukan, dengan menggunakan beberapa alat analisis yaitu Independent t test, one sample t test, paired t test. Peneliti menguji pernyataan penelitian dengan menggunakan uji validitas dan uji reliabelitas.
Hasil penelitian bahwa rata-rata responden memahami makna income dan berpersepsi benar terhdap makna income dalam arti sesungguhnya, dan apa perbedaan dengan revenue. Hal tersebut dapat diketahui dari jawaban mereka yang mengartikan income sebagai jumlah bersih atau laba bersih bukan sebagai laba kotor atau penghasilan. Income sebenarnya tidak sesuai bila diartikan sebagai penghasilan, laba kotor. Income pada umumnya dimaknai sebagai jumlah bersih sehingga istilah laba lebih menggambarkan apa yang dimaksud income. Maka dari itu income dengan makna jumlah bersih lebih sesuai bila dibandingkan dengan income yang dimaknai dengan jumlah kotor.
This study aims to determine students level of understanding of State and private universities on terms of income, and know the differences of each student group. So that education institutions can evaluate whether the accounting income terms should be explained at the beginning of college or not. And create a harmonious understanding.
This research is exploratory. The research was conducted by two methods, purposive and snowball and analyzed by three analytical tools that is Independent t test, one sample t test, paired t test. Researchers test the research statement by using test validity and test reliabelitas.
The study show that on average the respondents had not understood the real meaning in terms of income, and what is the difference with the revenue. It can be seen from their responses are interpreted as the sum of net income or net income is not as gross profit or earnings. Income is not really appropriate if interpreted as income, gross profit. Income is generally interpreted as a net amount of income so that the term describes what is meant more income. Thus the meaning of amount of net income is more appropriate when compared with the amount of income that gross amount.
