Hubungan Antara Pengangguran dan Kewirausahaan di Indonesia periode 1998-2006

Penelitian ini menganalisis hubungan dinamis antara perubahan tingkat pengangguran dan perubahan tingkat kewirausahaan. Di satu sisi, peningkatan tingkat kewirausahaan mungkin menyumbang tingkat pengangguran yang lebih rendah (the entrepreneurial effect). Di sisi lain, tingkat pengangguran yang lebih tinggi mungkin mendorong perseorangan untuk memperkerjakan dirinya sendiri, oleh karena itu mendukung tingkat kewirausahaan yang lebih tinggi (the refugee effect). Penelitian ini menggunakan data panel dari 26 propinsi di Indonesia periode 1998-2006. Hasil empirik menunjukkan keberadaan entrepreneurial effect tetapi tidak terdapat refugee effect. Kedua efek ini juga Peneliti bedakan antara wilayah berpendapatan tinggi dan rendah di Indonesia. Hasil empirik menunjukkan keberadaan entrepreneurial effect di wilayah berpendapatan rendah tetapi tidak ada di wilayah berpendapatan tinggi and refugee effect tidak diketemukan, keduanya di wilayah berpendapatan tinggi dan rendah.
This paper investigates the dynamic relationship between changes in unemployment and changes in entrepreneurship rate. On the one hand, increases in entrepreneurship may contribute to lower unemployment rates (the entrepreneurial effect). On the other hand, higher unemployment rates may push individuals into self-employment, thereby contributing to higher entrepreneurship rates (the refugee effect). This paper uses panel data from 26 provinces in Indonesia in the period 1998-2006. The empirical results show the existence of the entrepreneurial effect but there is no the refugee effect. These two effects author distinguish between higher and lower income regions within Indonesia. The empirical results show the existence of the entrepreneurial effect in lower income regions of Indonesia but not in higher income regions and the refugee effect not find, both in higher income and in lower income regions.
