During autonomy era, the national economic growth increases, but the regional distribution of fiscal resources tends to inequality. The aim of this paper is to analyse the relationship between economic growth and fiscal inequality in the implementation of fiscal decentralization policy in Indonesia. This paper used panel data for twenty two provinces in Indonesia for period 1994 to 2004. There were two equations which had simultaneous relationship such as economic growth and fiscal inequality. Because of the potential simultaneity of two equations, Two Stage Linear Squares (2SLS) estimation method was employed The result showed there was positive relationship between economic growth and fiscal inequality in the implementation of fiscal decentralization. Higher economic growth led to increase fiscal inequality among provinces. Hence, there was trade-off between economic growth and fiscal equality for the period 1994 to 2004.
