Faktor-faktor Yang Mempengaruhi Minat Mahasiswa Akuntansi dalam Memilih Karir di Bidang Akuntansi dan Non-Akuntansi

The aim of this study was accounting student after their graduated hoped can implement their knowledge in communities, especially in works field; the student must have knowledge and skill because the works field more competitive and grow up. In ordinary, the accounting graduates hope have career in the field that their have, especially as an accounting, in form internal, public, education or government accounting. But all capacities in accounting profession could not hold all graduates from accounting departments with varying in quality. For that reason, the student in accounting for beginning before their pass consider to looking their career opportunity in other fields if their could not have career as accountant by still implement their knowledge that they gets in college, example as entrepreneur or finance journalist. The factors that influence in career choosing for accounting student will give an effect to them for making priority in skill that want to be held and the priority of discipline aspects. The aim of the study was to analyze the difference for another internal factor, wage, job market, and personality factor of accounting student in choosing their career, both in accounting or non accounting. The questionnaire was used in this study. The population was accounting student that study in Yogyakarta Province. The sample was accounting student in all range with consideration that the students have depicted about the profession that they will choose. The data from questionnaire then analyze with statistic test, for its validity, reliability, then Mann Whitney U and Chi Square test. The result shows for internal factors, wage, and market consideration have difference between accounting students that have career interest in accounting and for accounting student that have career interest in non accounting. While the personality factor was not significantly difference between accounting students that have career interest in accounting and for accounting student that have career interest in non accounting.
