The Effects of Job Characteristics, Relation to Supervisor and Compensation Benefits on Organizational Commitment: an Investigation of Knowledge Workers in PT. Freeport Indonesia

Penelitian ini merupakan sebuah penilaian efek dari job karakteristik, hubungan dengan supervisor dan kompensasi benefit terhadap komitmen organisasi karyawan berpendidikan di PT. Freeport Indonesia. Multiple regresi linear digunakan untuk menentukan variabel independent yang berpengaruh terhadap komitmen organisasi sebagai variabel dependen. Sampel terdiri dari 175 karyawan berpendidikan, yang terbagi dari tiga divisi operasional di perusahaan. Data yang terkumpul didapat dari kuisioner yang disebar melalui email kepada masing-masing responden. Dari data yang tersebar, data yang bisa diterima hanya dari 157 karyawan berpendidikan di 3 divisi. Analisis statistik dari data yang dicapai dari analisis regresi menunjukan hubungan yang kuat dan signifikan antara factor-faktor yang teridentikasi dan komitmen organisasi. Kesimpulan yang didapat adalah kompensasi dan hubungan antar supervisor signifikan terhadap komitmen organisasi. Namun, penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa job karakteristik tidak berpengaruh terhadap komitmen organisasi.

This study was an assessment of the effects in job characteristics, relation to supervisor and compensation benefits to the organizational commitment among knowledge workers in PT. Freeport Indonesia. Multiple linear regressions were used to determine which independent variables explained a portion of the dependent variable, organizational commitment. There were samples of 175 knowledge workers, stratified by three operational divisions. Data were collected from responses to a questionnaire that was mailed to all persons in the sample. Usable responses were received from 157 knowledge workers in three divisions. The statistical analysis of the data culminated in a regression analysis that measured the significance and the strength of the relationship between the identified factors and organizational commitment. The main conclusions were that compensation and relation to supervisor were significantly to organizational commitment. On the other hand, in this study job characteristic was not related.
