This research aims to identify and analyze the market structure (using concentration ratio and Herfindahl index) and performance (profitability based) of cement industry in Indonesia. Hence, it also focuses on relationship between market structure and performance. There are two competing hypothesis with regard to market structure and performance. The first hypothesis is structure-performance paradigm which emphasized on market collusion and the second hypothesis is efficient-structure hypothesis which emphasized on market efficiency. Both hypotheses are mutually exclusive. This study conducted test for both hypothesis with respect to the cement industry in Indonesia using pooling data from 3 listed companies for period 1996-2006. The result showed that cement industry in Indonesia for that period had full oligopoly market structure. The financial performance of cement industry in Indonesia showed continuously increase, with fluctuation in improvement. This study also finds evidence to support efficient-structure hypothesis. Mean while, regression with OLS method was used to identify factor influencing the performance of industry, and showed that industrial performance was significantly influence by market share, ownership, company's age.
