This Study attempts mainly to measure the acreage yield, and output responses to prices and non-price factors in Indonesia between 1969to 1982. Six provinces were studied and divided into irrigated and non-irrigated fields. The result was that the acreage elasticity of rice with respect to its price is in the range of 0-0.5. Which is consistent with most of the results in subsistent farming regions.
The results of acreage response for rice are found to be statistically better than yield and output responses. The acreage adjustment, however, is higher in irrigated area than in non-irrigated area, indicating the higher institutional constrains in non-irrigated area. This study found that the acreage elasticity during 1969-1982 is non-significantly higher than the elasticity during 1951-1962.
The Supply response to non-price factors viz technology and weather condition both are found to be positive, although they vary in degree, price of fertilizer however, has eratic behavior in its sign and significance.
Kata Kunci : the acreage yield, output responses to prices, output response to non-price factors, the acreage elasticity of rice, The acreage adjustment.
