Analisis Pengaruh Penerapan Time-Based Competition Terhadap Kinerja Perusahaan: Studi Pada Perusahaan Manufaktur di Indonesia

Konsep time-based competition merupakan strategi lmtuk membangun keunggulan kompetitif dengan mencapai perubahan lead-time melalui perubahan dalam proses dan struktur yang digunakan dalam desain, manufaktur dan penyampaian produk pada pelanggan. Time-based competition adalah strategi kompetitif yang berusaha memadatkan waktu yang dibutuhkan untuk mengusulkan, mengembangkan, memproduksi produk, memasarkan, dan rnenyampaikan produk tersebut sampai ke tangan konsumen. Untuk menerapkan time-based competition, alat yang digunakan adalah total quality management, just-in-time, dan work team empowerment.

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah pertama, untuk mengetahui, bagaimana pengamh penerapan konsep time-based competition (product development cycle time, new product introduction, production lead time, dan delivery speed) terhadap kinerja perusahaan, dan kedua, untuk menguji bagaimana hubungan penggunaan TQM, JIT ataupun work team empowerment terhadap time-based performance.

Sampel diambil dari perusahaan-perusahaan manufaktur yang terdaftar pada Indonesian Capital Market Directory tahun 2000 dan perusahaan- perusahaan yang tennuat dalam daftar perusahaan terkemuka di Indonesia Directory Top Companies and Big Groups in Indonesia. Responden dalam penelitian ini adalah para CEO atau Manajer Divisi. Untuk memperoleh data, peneliti mengirimkan kuesioner kepada responden, dan sampel yang terkurnpul dan dapat dioleh lebib lanjut berjumlah 62.

Analisis statistik yang digunakan untuk rnengetahui bagaimana pengaruh penerapan time-based competition terhadap kinerja perusahaan dan bagaimana hubungan penggunaan total quality management, just-in-time, dan work team empowerment, adalah metode korelasi dan regresi berganda.

Hasil penelitian memmjukkan bahwa, pertama, temyata item time-based competition secara keseluruhan menunjukkan hubungan yang signifikan terhadap kinerja perusahaan. Kedua, penggunaan teknik-teknik seperti total quality management. just in time, dan work team empowerment menunjukkan hubungan yang positif dengan time based performance.

Time-based competition concept is a strategy to build competitive superiority by achieving lead-time changes through changes in process and structure used in designing, manufacturing and delivering product to customers. Time-based competition is a competitive strategy trying to short the times needed to propose, develop, produce, market and deliver the products to the customers' hand. To apply the time-based competition, it is used total quality management, just-in-time and work team empowerment tools.

This research aimed to: first, to know how the application effect of the time-based competition (product development cycle time, new product introduction, production lead time and delivery speed) toward the company performance, and second, to examine how the correlation between the use of TQM, lIT or work team empowerment with the time-based performance.

Sample was collected from manufacturing companies registered in Indonesian Capital Market Directory of 2000 and companies registered in the Directory Top Companies and Big Groups in Indonesia. Respondents of this research were CEOs and Division Managers. To gain data, the researcher sent questionnaires to the respondents. The collected and processed samples were 62.

Statistical analyses used to know how the application effects of the time- based competition on the company performance and how the correlation of the use of total quality management, just-in-time and work team empowerment were correlation method and multiple regression.

The result of this research showed that, first, the time-based competition item entirely indicated a significant correlation toward the company performance. Second, the use techniques such as total quality management, just-in-time, and work team empowerment indicated a positive correlation on the time-based performance
