KAUSALITAS ANTARA PERTUMBUHAN EKONOMI DAN DEFISIT ANGGARAN PEMERINTAH DI INDONESIA : 1969 - 1998

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan kausalitas antara pertumbuhan ekonomi dan defisit anggaran pcmerintah di Indonesia. Data yang digunakan merupakan data runtut waktu tahunan dari tahun 1969 sampai dengan 1998 atau indentik dengan 28 pengamatan. Analisis yang digunakan adalah model uji kausalitas Granger (1969), model uji kausalitas Sims (1972) dan pengembangan uji kausalitas Granger dalam bentuk Model Koreksi Kesalahan (ECM) .
Hasil penelitian dengan uji kausalitas Granger (1969) m enunjukkan terjadi hubungan satu arah antara defisit anggaran pemerintah ke pertumbuhan ekonomi. Sedangkan hasit uji kausahtas Sims (1972) menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat pola hubungan antara pertumbuhan ekonomi dan defisit anggaran pemerintah. Lebih lanjut hasil estimasi uji kausalitas Granger dalam bentuk model koreksi kesalahan tidak dapat diartikan dikarenakan tidak signifikannya koefisien ECT dalam model.
This research aims to analyze the causality between economic growth and government budget deficit in Indonesia. The data used here are annual time series data for the period of 1969 - 1998. The analyze based on the Granger causality test (1969), Sims causality test (1972) and the modification of Granger causality test with error correction model.
The result of the research with Granger causality test show there is an unidirectional causality between economic growth and government budget deficit. On the other hand, the result of Sims causality test shows that there is no relationship between economic growth and government budget deficit. The result of Granger causality test with error correction model can not be explained, cause there are no EeT coefisien significant in the model
