Penelitian berjudul Konstruksi Media Tentang Mitos Populer: Studi Tentang Tayangan Program Dua Dunia Episode Rahasia Dusun Kasuran di Trans7 ini mengkaji isi teks film dokumenter program Dua Dunia epidose Rahasia Dusun Kasurandi Trans7 yang telah diunggah dalam youtube oleh Iswantono. Analisis ditujukan untuk melihat bagaimana media mengonstruksi mitos Larangan Tidur di Kasur yang menjadi tema pokok film serta kepentingan dan ideologi apa yang mendasarinya. Analisis menggunakan metode tekstual (textual analysis) yang dikembangkan Jack Morris (2003) untuk menggambarkan, menafsirkan, dan mengevaluasi karakteristik pesan/teks film dokumenter. Analisis lebih difokuskan pada isi teks dialog/percakaan yang diucapkan para tokoh dalam film dokumenter. Sedangkan untuk mengungkap tujuan/kepentingan di balik konstruksi teks, peneliti mengaitkan analisis dengan perspektif analisis wacana kritis Teun Van Djik yang diadopsi Eriyanto. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa melalui bahasa yang digunakan para tokoh, media Trans 7 telah mengkonstruksi mitos lokal Larangan Tidur di Kasur sebagai budaya yang tidak jelas asal-usulnya dan memarginalkannya. Dengan konstruksi tersebut tercipta dikotomi "baik" dan "tidak baik" atau "elok" dan "tidak elok" atas kedua budaya yang ditampilkan (Islam dan Mitos). Ada dua tujuan terselubung di balik konstruksi teks film dokumenter. Pertama, tujuan komodifikasi, yakni menyangkut rating. Kedua, tujuan syiar Islam berkaitan dengan nilai (value) yang ingin ditekankan, yakni tauhid Islam.

The current study attempts to explore the content of the text of Dua Dunia documentary film in the episode of The Mystery of Dusun Kasuran in Trans7 TV program uploaded via youtube by Iswantono. The analysis aims at exploring (1) how media constructs the myth of not allowing people to sleep on the kapuk mattress as the main theme of the film, and (2) what interest and ideology underlying the myth itself. Textual analysis developed by Jack Morris (2003) employed to describe, interpret, and evaluate the characteristics of the messages conveyed through the text of the documentary film. The analysis accordingly focused on the content of the dialogs expressed by the film characters. With the aim of revealing the intention or the interest of the characters behind the text construction, the analysis was associated with critical discourse analysis perspective put forward by Teun van Dijk adopted by Eriyanto. The result of the study demonstrates that through the language use of the characters, Trans7 media has constructed the local myth of forbidden practice of sleeping on kapok mattress as obscure cultural practice and hence, marginalized the myth. By means of the construction, there is a dichotomy between "good" and "not good" or "fine" and "not fine" on carrying out the practices of Islam and the myth. There are two covert purposes behind the text construction of the documentary film: first, it is the action or process of a commodity related to the film's rating; and second, it is the practice of disseminating the values in Islam, particularly on the faith of The One Almighty God.
