Hydraulic excavator merupakan suatu alat berat sektor mining yang berfungsi untuk menggali (digging), membuka lahan dan sebagainya. Excavator PC 200-8 M0 merupakan produk yang di distribusikan oleh PT. United Tractors dengan pabrikan dari Komatsu. Pada saat ini dunia pertambangan sangat membutuhkan alat berat untuk mempercepat dan meningkatkan proses produksi, sehingga diharapkan dengan adanya alat berat dapat membantu suatu perusahaan pertambangan untuk mengejar target produksi. Mengingat begitu banyaknya aplikasi dari excavator ini, maka penggunaan dan kinerjanya pun dapat dikatakan cukup banyak. Akibat banyaknya hal tersebut, tentunya dibutuhkan juga pengetahuan dasar yang menunjang dalam proses kinerjanya sehingga tidak mengalami kesalahan dalam pengaplikasian dan kerusakan yang terlalu dini, sehingga dapat mengganggu dan mengurangi efektifitas kinerja excavator pada saat beroperasi.
