RESPON DIMENSI TAJUK JATI KLON TERHADAP KOMPETISI TAJUK DI KPH MADIUN

Tajuk pohon merupakan bagian penting dari pohon yang mendukung proses fisiologis. Keterbatasan ruang tumbuh menyebabkan tajuk pohon mengalami tumpang tindih dan menyebabkan perubahan dimensi tajuk. Ruang tumbuh menggambarkan pertumbuhan pohon serta memberikan gambaran kompetisi antar pohon. Kompetisi antar individu pohon diakibatkan oleh adanya pohon tetangga di sekitar pohon sampel yang lebih mendominasi dalam mendapatkan sumber daya seperti cahaya, air, dan nutrisi secara bersama-sama. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui respon dimensi tajuk terhadap kompetisi tajuk. Pengambilan data dilakukan di KPH Madiun dengan memilih petak yang memiliki persentase keberhasilan tanam tinggi dan pertumbuhan yang baik. Sampel yang diambil adalah 30 pohon dominan dan 8 pohon tetangga pada setiap sampelnya. Data pengukuran berupa tinggi, diameter, jari-jari tajuk dan tinggi pada radius tajuk. Dimensi tajuk dalam penelitian ini didekati dengan nilai-nilai rasio tajuk, rasio tajuk terkena cahaya dan indeks ketebalan tajuk. Search cone digunakan untuk menentukan pohon pesaing bagi pohon sampel. Indeks kompetisi ditentukan dengan menggunakan metode Hegyi. Korelasi dimensi tajuk terhadap kompetisi tajuk dapat diketahui dari nilai korelasi indeks kompetisi dengan rasio tajuk, rasio tajuk terkena cahaya dan indeks ketebalan tajuk. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dimensi tajuk yang berkorelasi paling tinggi adalah rasio tajuk terkena cahaya yaitu sebesar 0,177, kemudian rasio tajuk sebesar 0,092 dan indeks ketebalan tajuk sebesar -0,079. Indeks kompetisi memiliki korelasi yang lemah terhadap rasio tajuk, rasio tajuk terkena cahaya dan indeks ketebalan tajuk karena pengaruh kompetisi terhadap dimensi tajuk pohon dominan kecil.

The tree crown is important part of the tree that supports the physiological process especially photosyntesis. The growing space is limited because the tree crown overlap and change of its dimension. The growing space shows the growth of trees and its competition. The competition among trees was caused by other individual which is dominantly compete to obtain resources such as light, water, and nutrients. This study aims to determine the response of crown dimension to its competition. The study was conducted in Madiun Forest District. The samples were 30 dominant trees and 8 neighboring trees of each sample in every selected compartment. The compiled data were measurement of height, diameter, crown radius and crown radiuss height. The crown dimension was determined by calculating crown ratio, live crown ratio and crown thickness index. The search cone was used to determine the competition level. The index of competition was calculated by Hegyi method. The response between crown dimensions to its competition was determined by correlation analysis. The pearson correlation was applied to evaluate the correlation between the crown ratio, the live crown ratio and the crown thickness index to the competition index. The result of this study showed that low positive correlation was existed between the live crown ratio and competition index was positive very low correlation with r value was 0.177. The correlation existed between the crown ratio and competition index with r value was 0.092. On the contrary, very low correlation was existed between the crown thickness index and competition index with r value was -0.079. The crown dimension of dominant trees have low correlation to the competition index.
