PREVALENCE OF SEXUAL DYSFUNCTION IN PREGNANT WOMAN DURING FIRST, SECOND AND THIRD TRIMESTER

ABSTRACT Background: Woman life and well being has been influenced by sexuality and can not be separated from sexual identity, sexual relationship and sexual function. During first and second trimesters, pregnant woman is suspected to have less sexual dysfunction compare to third trimester. Objective: To understand relationship between the age of pregnancy and prevalence of sexual dysfunction among pregnant women. Method: This research is observational, using crosssectional method by questionaire. The subject are pregnant women in Yogyakarta. Quantitative approach is used to measure and asess the relationship between age of pregnancy and the prevalence of sexual dysfunction among pregnant woman. The dependent variable is pregnant women experience sexual dysfunction and the independent variable is the trimester of pregnancy among pregnant women. Data selection method is using questionaire assisted by FSFI questonaire and sample collection method is consecutive sampling method. To collect the sample, each women will fill the questionaire. The relation between variables will be analyzed using chi square and odds ratio.

Result: Sexual Dysfunction occur from first trimester, then continue to second and third trimester. Data obtained from 124 respondents. Prevalence of sexual dysfunction in the first is 85,3% second trimester is 73,2% and third trimester is 71,4%. Type of sexual dysfunction that frequently occur is arousal by 97,1% in first trimester, 95,0% in second trimester and 93,8% in last trimester. Lowest domain is satisfaction by 79,4% in first trimester, 70,0% in second trimester, and 60,4% in the last trimester. Conclusion: Based on the result and discussion we can conclude that incident of sexual dysfunction occur from first trimester until third trimester. The highest prevalence is in the first trimester, followed by second and third trimester respectively. Although many respondent already know the basic knowledge of having sexual intercourse during pregnancy, sexual dysfunction still occur.There is no difference on type of sexual dysfunction that mostly occur during pregnancy. Type of sexual dysfunction that mostly occur in all trimester is arousal. Pregnant women can suffer more than one type of sexual dysfunction during their pregnancy.
