STRATEGI PT KUTAI CHIP MILL DALAM MENGHADAPI DEFISIT SUMBER KAYU TERBAHARUKAN

PT Kutai Chip Mill bergerak dibidang pengolahan serpih kayu dengan kapasitas pabrik 1,2 juta bone dry metric ton dengan kebutuhan kayu 2 juta ton setiap tahun. Sumber kayu mengandalkan pasokan kayu terbaharukan dari internal dan rekanan jangka panjang. Seratus persen produk ditujukan untuk ekspor ke negara Tiongkok. Tekanan lembaga-lembaga lingkungan nasional dan intenasional seperti WWF, Walhi, dan Green Peace dan juga konsumen membuat produsen besar bubur kertas grup APP dan grup APRIL menata ulang rencana sustainabilitas pasokan kayu. Kebijakan moratorium yang dicetuskan kedua konglomerat bubur kertas ini mengakibatkan meningkatnya kebutuhan kayu dari sumber terbaharukan, namun tidak didukung oleh kinerja penanaman di sektor HTI. Rata-rata realisasi tanam hanya sebesar 46 persen dalam kurun lima tahun terakhir. Kondisi ini diperumit dengan selesainya pabrik bubur kertas PT OKI di awal tahun 2017, diyakini persaingan pembelian kayu HTI di Kalimantan akan semakin sengit yang berimbas pada keberlangsungan usaha PT KCM. Penelitan ini melakukan analisis SWOT, PEST, Porters Five Forces dan gambaran defisit sumber daya kayu HTI dan memberi masukan pada PT KCM dalam menghadapi ancaman defisit sumber kayu terbaharukan.

PT Kutai Chip Mill is a wood chip company with total capacity of 1,2 million bone dry metric tones which requires 2 million ton of plantation wood every year. PT KCM rely most of its wood supply from internal source and long term partner. 100 persen of wood chip is exported to China. Pressure from enviromental organization such as WWF, Walhi, and Green Peace and comsumer has force big pulp producer like APP group and APRIL group revisit their sustainable long term wood supply plan. Moratorium policy that cemented by APP and APRIL has cause a significant increase in plantation wood requirement, unfortunately this increase does not supported by performance of plantation sector. Over the past 5 years, forestry industry only manages to plant average of 46 percent of yearly plan. Beginning of 2017 PT OKI has started operation, competition of wood purchasing in Kalimantan become more severe, threaten the sustainability of PT KCM This thesis conduct analysis of SWOT, PEST, and Porters Five Forces as well as describe the chalengge of defisit plantation wood. From all of these tools, this thesis will offer recomendation strategy to PT KCM to face the threat of defisit of plantation wood.
