PERILAKU INFORMASI PROFESIONAL (STUDI PERILAKU PENCARIAN INFORMASI PADA PENGAWAS RADIASI DI BADAN PENGAWAS TENAGA NUKLIR)

Perkembangan teknologi informasi begitu cepat. Hadirnya internet dapat mempengaruhi budaya kerja organisasi dan perilaku individu baik dalam kehidupan sehari-hari maupun di lingkungan institusi. Dalam lingkup organisasi seperti Badan Pengawas Tenaga Nuklir (BAPETEN), internet secara nyata dapat memudahkan aktivitas pencarian informasi untuk membantu tugas kerja sehari-hari. Dengan demikian, seharusnya tugas kerja bagi pengawas radiasi bisa dilakukan lebih cepat. Namun, kondisi nyata menunjukkan adanya beberapa tugas kerja yang diselesaikan lebih lambat. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perilaku pencarian informasi pengawas radiasi di BAPETEN. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Informan dalam penelitian ini adalah pengawas radiasi yang ada di BAPETEN, Jakarta Pusat sebanyak 9 orang. Adapun pemilihan informan dengan teknik purposive sampling yaitu memilih para pengawas radiasi yang dijadikan sebagai informan yang dianggap memenuhi kriteria dan memiliki banyak informasi tentang aktivitasnya dalam pencarian informasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa karakteristik kebutuhan informasi profesional pengawas radiasi mencakup tentang radiasi, reaktor nuklir, zat radioaktif, peraturan perundangan ketenaganukliran, kesiapsiagaan nuklir, dan kedaruratan nuklir. Frekuensi kebutuhan informasi cenderung berulang, dapat diprediksi, tak terduga, berdasarkan pada urgensi tugas yang harus diselesaikan dan kompleks. Sumber informasi yang banyak dimanfaatkan adalah internet dan narasumber. Kesadaran informasi mempunyai krtieria seperti harus lengkap, akurat, up-to-date, fokus pada topik, relevan, berasal dari organisasi dan pakar terpercaya. Adapun hasil dari pencarian informasi dapat menunjang tugas kerja dan di simpan di komputer dan server database internal. Umpan balik dalam proses pencarian informasi sebagian besar dialami oleh profesional pengawas radiasi.

The development of information technology is very fast. The presence of internet network that can affect the work culture of the organization and individual behavior both in daily life and in institution environment. In the Nuclear Energy Regulator Agency (BAPETEN), the existence of internet may significantly improve the daily work accomplishment by providing the ease of information. Thus, the duty of the radiation supervisors should be done more quickly. However, the real conditions showed some work tasks are completed more slowly. The purpose of this research is to findout information searching behavior for radiation supervisors in BAPETEN. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. There are nine radiation supervisors in BAPETEN who are involved as the informants of the qualitative research. The selection of informants uses purposive sampling technique which intend to choose radiation supervisors who meet the criteria to provide adequate information regarding their information seeking activities to support their daily task accomplishment. The results showed that the characteristics of the information needs of radiation supervisors professionals include radiation, nuclear reactors, radioactive substances, nuclear regulations, nuclear emergencies and nuclear preparedness. The frequency of information needs tends to be repetitive, predictable, unexpected, based on the urgency of the task to be completed and complex. Sources of information widely used are internet and resource persons. Awareness of information has such criteria as complete, accurate, up-to-date, focused on topics, relevant, comes from trusted organizations and experts. The results of the information search can support work assignment and store in the computer and internal database server. Feedback in the information retrieval process is mostly experienced by professionals radiation supervisors.
