Through applying the AF method, the aim of this research is twofold. First, to estimates, identify, and compare multidimensional poverty within the national level of Indonesia and two different provinces in Indonesia: D.I. Yogyakarta and Kalimantan Selatan. Second, to assess the impact of the acceleration of the poverty alleviation program which was initiated by the central government in 2010 both on the monetary and multidimensional poverty. Results show different characteristics of multidimensional poverty between Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta and Kalimantan Selatan. The highest contributors of poverty in D.I. Yogyakarta is economic dimension, whereas in Kalimantan Selatan is standard of living. The level of multidimensional poverty in D.I. Yogyakarta is better than Kalimantan Selatan and it is opposite level compared to the monetary poverty by Statistic Indonesia. As for the assessment result of the poverty alleviation program, the program which was implemented by the central government in 2010 were able to decrease the poverty level but cannot fully accelerate speed of the poverty reduction both monetarily and multidimensionally. The findings of this research show that poverty measurement based on solely income/expenditure is insufficient. The AF method also evidently very usefull in order to analyse further related to the poverty problem. This method able to capture the main contributor of the multidimensional poverty in each region and based on those results, proper poverty alleviation program could be implemented. Finally complement the monetary approach with multidimensional approach could give clearer picture related to the poverty problem.
