THALASSEMIA DENGAN HEMOSIDEROSIS, EPILEPSI DAN PENYAKIT JANTUNG REMATIK

Anak thalassemia dengan hemosiderosis, epilepsi dan penyakit jantung rematik memerlukan terapi komprehensif yang melibatkan keluarga, dokter anak, psikolog, dan laboratorium. Pemantauan status gizi, pertumbuhan, perkembangan, progresivitas penyakit, dan tatalaksana sangatlah penting untuk meningkatkan kualitas hidup anak. Pada laporan kasus ini adalah seorang anak laki-laki usia 17 tahun yang telah terdiagnosis Thalassemia beta mayor sejak usia 4 tahun. Telah dilakukan pemantauan dan intervensi pada anak selama 25 bulan berupa pemantauan status gizi, perjalanan penyakit secara klinis dan radiologis, tatalaksana komprehensif, edukasi dan kunjungan rumah, demi mencapai tumbuh kembang dan kualitas hidup yang optimal.

Children with hemosiderosis thalassemia, epilepsy and rheumatic heart fever require a comprehensive management involving families, pediatricians, psychologists, and laboratories. Monitoring of nutritional status, growth and development, disease progressivity, and therapy are very important to improve their quality of life. In this report, our patient was a 17 years old boy who had been diagnosed as Thalassemia beta mayor since the age of 4. We conducted a longitudinal observation for 25 months to monitor and do intervention of the nutritional status, the course of disease (clinically and radiologically), a comprehensive management, an education, and home visits in order to achieve an optimal growth and development and a better quality of life.
