Strategi Pemberdayaan Masyarakat Melalui Kampung Edukasi Watu Lumbung

ABSTRACT Community development through community-based tourism area by utilizing future potential resources is an important issue to be used as a research material. This issue becomes a talking point especially in community development through the development of tourism attractions in community area. The development bring jobs for the local community’s which will lead to community welfare as the goal. This research entitled “Community Empowering Strategies through Watu Lumbung Educational Village”. The focus of this research is to see how the empowerment strategy applied in Watu Lumbung Educational Village which located in Dusun Jelapan, Desa Seloharjo and Dusun Kretek, Desa Parangtritis to utilize the nature, local and newcomer potential to make educational village for the local and tourists. The researcher use empowerment concept and sustainable livelihood approach to analyze the data gathered. Empowerment concept used as the framework to see the empowerment efforts in Watu Lumbung Educational Village. Empowerment concept also used to describe the process of empowering the community in order to give authority and ability needed which completed by the sustainable livelihood approach to analyze the process of resource management and live sustainability strategies in Watu Lumbung Educational Village. The research method used is descriptive qualitative research. The analyzed unit is Watu Lumbung Educational Village. There are 25 informants were obtained for the research, in which 4 informants are obtained through purposive sampling and 21 informants obtained through snowball sampling. Three data collection techniques used in this research are in-depth interview, active participant observations, and documentations. The data gathered shows that the management at Watu Lumbung Educational Village use sustainable livelihood approach strategy which creates all in one tourism, economy and educational based area. The strategy used is reflected in the area zoning on the developed area. The empowerment stages in this region through self-awareness by showing the economy activity, educating, and one’s expertise management. The community involved in the management and collaboration in this region has the authority to choose particular decision according to their job description which has been distributed in the beginning of job division according to their expertise. The empowerment done in Watu Lumbung Educational Village has two targets. They are the local and new comer also aimed for the tourists and visitors in Watu Lumbung Educational Village. Coordination between stakeholders (government, community itself, and manager) is crucial to the sustainability of the community framework in Watu Lumbung Educational Village to empower its people.
