Abstract Migration phenomena from rural to urban increase time to time. It has positive and negative impacts whether for the destination district or abandoned district. One of the impacts of the migration is remittances for the family who are living in the origin district. The purpose of this research are to know about the frequency and the amount of remittances which are accepted by the family from the migrants who are living in JABODETABEK, and browse more about the contribution of remittances in improving the citizen prosperities, the main thing is about the citizen life improvement who are abandoned by the migrants. This research was conducted in Melikan Village, Wedi District, Klaten Regency. The approach which was used was descriptive qualitative approach, there were 10 informants. The remittance which was often accepted by the migrants’ families was money, which frequency and quantities of remittance influenced of background of migrants includes education, the migrants’ job, their income, duration of work in city, and their marriage status. Every household also has different way to use those remittances, it all depends on their necessity. For the consumptive activities, remittances are used to fulfill daily needs, to do social activities, to pay taxes, to pay debs, to buy household appliances, and to renovate their houses. Whereas, for the productive activities, remittances are used for education fee, agricultural fee, turnover and increase business capital, even to open new business. The outline is that it can be said that the remittances which are come from migrants are capable to improve citizen in the origin district.
