Humanitarian rationality and securitarian rationality possess, at least, two significant differences. First, humanitarian rationality understand Ebola epidemic as a problem which poses significant threat toward the survival of West African people. On the other hand, securitarian rationality understands Ebola epidemics as a problem threatening actors‟ survival. Second, in humanitarian perspective, it is actors‟ task to risk their own lives in order to save the life of affected population while in securitarian perspective, actors‟ main task is to neutralize the threat posed by epidemics. Despite of their differences, these two rationalities reinforce each other and shape several key strategies of global response toward Ebola epidemic in West Africa. Keywords: Epidemics, Global Health Governance, Humanitarian Rationality, Securitarian Rationality.
