Analisis Resepsi Serial Animasi Tom and Jerry

Abstract This study uses a reception analysis, to determine how the audience actively reading of the text of the media they consume. Researcher gathered data from four informants on how they interpret the violence they watch the show Tom and Jerry. The results showed the audience using the cultural values of their respective interpretations of the violence to which they had seen in Tom and Jerry. As the audience growing in age, experience, social and cultural values were used as the standard of each individual audience to make the process of reading the impressions of Tom and Jerry is also changing. In the end, four viewers were subjected in the study had their final stance respectively. Keywords : active audience, Tom and Jerry, reception analysis, violence
