ABSTRACT The theme of this research is decent work for part-time contract workers. To observe this phenomenon deeply, the study took an example of one company namely PT.Aseli Dagadu Djokdja. PT.ADD is one company in Yogyakarta that employ college students on a part-time contract basis. Part-time workers in PT.ADD commonly referred as Garda Depan (Avant Garde). Garda Depan have four main tasks as a Direct Seller, as a Customer Service Officer, as an Image Carrier and also as an Entertainer in the company. The same as the other workers in general, Garda Depan are entitled to a decent job. Therefore, the objective of this study is to describe the role of the Garda Depan as part time contract workers in PT.Aseli Dagadu Djokdja as well as to describe the dynamics of decent work at the company. This study used a qualitative method with descriptive approach. The conceptual framework of the ILO‟s decent work used in this study consists of four components: employment, worker‟s rights, social security and social dialogue. PT.ADD as this research area is a company in Yogyakarta engaged in the the creative industries, started since 1994 and confirmed as a listed company since 11 November 1997. This company sells various souvenirs that can only be found in their official outlets. The temporary working relationship between PT.ADD and Garda Depan last for 8 or 9 months and started since Garda Depan signed the employment contract. This study found that Garda Depan had became vital element of the company yet they vulnerable due to the absence of legal framework for part-time workers and their orientation to find the work itself. Working as Garda Depan became the opportunity for students to participate in the company activities and to gain work experience. Furthermore, the flexible working system on a part-time basis made students possible to run their workplace and campus activities side by side. In the absence of a clear legal framework related to part time workers, the bargaining position of the company tend to be higher. Thus, companies should play an active role in creating a decent working environment, especially in terms of remuneration and social security. As for social dialogue within the company should be balanced, meaning that is not always intended for the evaluation of the company's operations, but also intended as a forum for part-time workers to express their aspirations concerning their rights as workers.
