ABSTRACT INDONESIA 1998: A piece of the 1998 Reform Story in Cartoons By Fati Apriandini Merjana 12/333246 / SP / 25 238 Cartoons often only seen pictures of graffiti as a whim without any tendency, but the political cartoon has a hidden power. This power can be in yet discourse, even more resistance discourse. Mice Comics Cartoon: Indonesia 1998 was a breath of fresh air for the public when it was first released in 1999 after the collapse of the New Order regime. However, the re-release in 2014, political cartoons in the comic Mice Cartoon: Indonesia 1998 to have a different meaning from the printed version first given in 2014 was a year of politics. It is interesting to know what the discourse of what is being built by the cartoonist in the comic. On the basis of this research aims to show the relationship of art and politics and analyze how art becomes a medium to criticize a regime. This research is still in great themes of art and political linkages, in particular on how this study highlight the role of power in producing discourse through cartoons and comics in comic cartoons Mice Cartoon: Indonesia 1998. Foucault's view that power is not just about ownership but power is practiced in a scope to touch the smallest of the individual agents. Power and discourse are interrelated, because the discourse is not only meant as a series of words or propositions in the text is single, but something that produces the other (an idea, a concept, or the effects of power). But every rule also cause resistance power. Resistance does not mean anti-power, but as a form of action in critical discourse blown by the power holders. This research is deskripsitf, conducted qualitative research classified as critical discourse analysis is done in the style of Teun van Dijk which consists of three dimensions: the critical linguistic, social cognition and social analysis on the content of these comics to help analyze the content of comics. The results of a three-dimensional integral analysis it was found that cartoons and comics at the comic cartoon Mice Cartoon: Indonesia 1998 load resistance discourse from the discourse cartoonist transition of power through elections in 2014.
