ABSTRACT This research will focus on variety of business opportunities created by craftsman in bamboo craft industry. The parameters of business opportunities consist of two things, namely the accessibility and capacity. These aspects are examined in this research, first, identify surrounding the accessibility of each craftsman. Accessibility encompasses sources of capital, labor, and the amount of market share. Second, measure the capacity of each craftsman or how far they are able to leverage existing the access. Research method in this study is qualitative with case study approach. Collected informations through observation, documents, and structured interviews with seven bamboo craftsman in Brajan Village Yogyakarta, divided into 3 small craftsman and 4 collectors. For additional information, interviews were also conducted with relevant parties as stakeholders, named Dinas Perindustrian Perdagangan dan Koperasi Kabupaten Sleman, Universitas Islam Indonesia, and PT Jasa Raharja Yogyakarta. The next step of analysis begins with reducing, presenting, and then draw a conclusions or verification. This research indicates there are many differences in the accessibility and capacity of each craftsman. That difference creates variety of business opportunities between craftsman, ranging from a high chance to lower. Basically, accessibility in terms of sources of capital owned by craftsman are relatively same, due to sources of capital equipment and skills are equally received support from stakeholders. Another distinguishing factors is money resources, market, innovation of product, relation of labors, the ability to build a network, up to business marketing techniques. The results showed that the majority of craftsman who have high chances of the business opportunities is category of collectors. The accessibility and capacity of collectors is relatively larger and more advanced because it has served export sales and can create widespread labor relations. While classified as a low chance in business opportunities are often found in the small craftsman. However not all the small craftsman likely low, because also found small craftsman who have high chance, seen in variety of relations widespread labor and transaction intensity with consumers, although the domestic consumers.
