ABSTRACT The Socio Economic Impacts of The Deevelopment of Tourist Destination Sindu Kusuma Edupark (SKE) Development of a tourist destination has been shown to have large impacts on the local area. As such, it is important that analysis of social and economic impact is carried out for every tourist destination. This study was therefore aimed to determine the socioeconomic impacts of the development of tourist destination Sindu Kusuma Edupark (SKE) on the local community. Qualitative evaluation research was performed using survey method. To determine the socio-economic impacts of development of SKE, six indicator aspects were examined: employment opportunity, employment absorption, income, welfare, general infrastructure, and government revenue. Survey data from three villages were included in the analysis. The findings of this study demonstrated that the development of SKE has a varied impact to the local community. Dusun Kragilan, the closest village to the tourist destination, has received positive economic impact because most of its residents have a small business at SKE. Therefore, SKE provides an enormous benefit for the locals from this village, as it improves the local economy. However, SKE has also negatively impacted Dusun Kragilan as the tourist crowds often caused congestion in the area, making it less conducive to local people to do their daily activities. Moreover, there is a perception that the presence of SKE has encouraged consumptive behavior among local people. Overall, SKE has caused substantial socio-economic effects in Dusun Kragilan. As for the local people in Dusun Ngaglik and Rogoyudan, which are located farther away from the tourist site, SKE has not seemed to provide a meaningful economic benefit. Despite the fact that they receive contributions in cash from SKE, there is only limited opportunity for participation in the development of SKE. The proposed recommendation from this study is to provide a persuasive approach to the community in three nearby villages in order to establish SKE as a tourist site that provides a positive socio-economic impact for the local community.
