Womenomics dan Transformasi Relasi Gender di Sektor Ketenagakerjaan Jepang

For its tradition, women have to suffer from being marginalized and excluded in many public sectors. Therefore, policies about women is now becoming a need of urgency in Japan reformation implemented in the era of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. Womenomics is a policy adopted by Shinzo Abe specifically to change for the better economic well-being of women, especially in employment sector. It is expected to change the patriarchal structure of gender relations institutionalized in every sector which detrimental for women, by enhancing further women’s participation in the employment sector so that women can be on the same standards as men. But in the reality of its implementation is, Womenomics is faced with many challenges, also being criticized for “not being there” for women, in other words, it is failed to identify and solve the root of the marginalization problems faced by Japanese women. Starting from this problem, this paper will analyze the challenges faced by Japan government led by Shinzo Abe on implementing Womenomics, structurally and culturally in the political realm, which hamper the effort of this policy to transform the patriarchal gender relations in the employment sector of Japan.
