Abstract This study argues that the most hegemonic democratic discourse is liberal democracy. The victory of liberal democracy is inevitably a historical process and inextricably linked to the the economic, social and political context in Indonesian national level. Those hagemonic articulation practices have emerged since the 60s. In response to this situation, the democratic discourse built by Indoprogres.com actually plays alternative role as a counter discourse. Its emergence takes 'participatory democracy' discourse as a part of social antagonism. In that position, by simultaneously constructing different discourse structures which at the same time opposing, the presence of Indoprogress democratic discourse takes Marxism-Socialism identity as its nodal point. With such identity, it affirms distinction and discourse opposition by presenting participatory element. In this case, participatory has a close relation to the class consciousness of the masses and the politics of prosperity redistri ution Therefore it is expe ted for us to see the emergen e of a different demo rati dis ourse as shown y ndop og e not as an anomaly or mislead view, but rather a concrete manifestation of the working of power relation, a contestation of meaning.
