ABSTRACT The purpose of this paper is to describe the condition of social capital at Bumi Makmur village, Nibung sub-district, Musi Rawas Utara District, Sumatera Selatan in facing the implementation of the Law Number 6 of 2014 on Village. Social capital can simply be understood as a social force in society to encourage cooperation between communities. Where nowadays social capital is seen by many as an important aspect in influencing the successfulness of implementation and realization of Village Law’s objectives. This research is a case study, in which data was collected through interviews, observation and the use of secondary data from the relevant documents. From the research findings, Bumi Makmur village as former transmigration settlement basically has social capital that been already used to solve the community problems and the village development issues. Its social capital is divided into social values, mechanisms and institutions. Normatively, the availability of social capital has been in accordance with what is expected by the Village Law. However, today the condition of social capital at Bumi Makmur Village has been dynamics. Since the implementation of Village Law has been begun in 2015, the condition of social capital is eroded or weakened, especially the weakened of social capital that actually useful in the village development.
